The Secret to Knowing the Bible
I will let you in on a secret--It centers
in the following promise:
“If any man will do his [God's] will, he shall know of the doctrine,
whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself.” John 7:17
When we truly dedicate our lives to God,
surrendering to Jesus and accepting Him as our personal Saviour, then
when we study the Bible, we must ask His blessing and ask Him to send
the Holy Spirit as our personal Tutor in the things of God's Word. Then
we have with us the actual Author of the Bible to help us to understand
His Will for us as His child. This is a One on One relationship--that
only the truly Born Again can experience. But to me it is very
exciting!! Here is what Jesus promised us:
“But the Comforter, which is the Holy
Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all
things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said
unto you.” John 14:26
Also Paul gave us the answer as to why so
few can truly understand the Bible:
“But the natural man receiveth not the
things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither
can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.” 1
Corinthians 2:14
We should never attempt to read or study the Bible unless we first
pray humbly for the guidance of the Holy Spirit or else we will
certainly be led astray. The Bible is not a book like any other
textbook--we cannot take it and dissect it with our proud human
philosophies and expect to arrive at truth.
You see one of the biggest problems we
folk in this era have to deal with is the Greek Philosophy which is
where all the educational systems we have been taught are centered in.
This mind set makes doubt and quibbling and even scoffing some kind of
virtues and it acts as a barrier to truly getting to know God as He
wants His children to know Him--personally.
May God bless and guide you to answers that will fill your soul with
joy!
God Bless!
For the Jews require a sign, and the
Greeks seek after wisdom: But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews
a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness; But unto them which
are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the
wisdom of God. 1 Corinthians 1:22-24
