Fiction it is - yes - but trivial it is not in the sight of God. HP's teachers in the story are dead people! He talks to dead people frequently in the story. They are wizards and witches--people who are declared by God to be worthy of execution.Isa 8:19 And when they shall say unto you, Seek unto them that have familiar spirits, and unto wizards that peep, and that mutter: should not a people seek unto their God? for the living to the dead? If we delight ourselves in stories about things that our Heavenly Father warns us are an abomination to Him and that He will cut off those who delight in these things-- this is serious business indeed! I can see by your letter that you are really in deep with your indulgence in this stuff. I warn you to leave it while you still may be able to! I will tell you something personal- I know what I am talking about as when I was a grade school child (AGES ago) my grandmother loaned me a book she had on ghost stories. Now, I knew even then that the dead cannot come back as ghosts and those 'ghost' things that do appear and try to fool people are really Satan’s nasty fallen angels trying to take people away from God! BUT just the same I stupidly began to read this stuff, excusing myself that "Oh, I know it is just stories and not true". You see- because I knew that, I should not have allowed my curiosity to take me into reading this book. As a small child I was very much a believer in God and I delighted in godly things more so than the average child. BUT When I look over my life I can see it was at that point of reading that occult fiction, that my life turned in another direction. The one book led to another - and I lost my closeness to God and had much unhappiness and misery in my life for MANY years. It is only in my more recent years I fully turned back to God and was born again. Now I have a joy and happiness that NOTHING else can even come close to! I have the type of life I had wanted in my smallest years. But look at what I lost! The ministry work I now do in my aging years I could have been enjoying in my BEST YEARS! The Lord is merciful to this unworthy person in that He has allowed me to take up what is left of my life and drop it at His feet--but what a miserably poor offering it is compared to what could have been! Not all eternity can return to me the time wasted, the talents abused, the opportunities forever lost--all because of delighting myself in what is an abomination to my dear God, and thus separating myself from His leading and full blessing! Whether you will heed my warning or not- I leave with you--but maybe you can see why I warn others from the death pit I so narrowly escaped from myself. temcat |
