GC Resolution on the Holy Bible

As delegates to the 2005 General Conference Session in St Louis, Missouri, we reaffirm the centrality of the Scriptures in the message and life of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. In them the beauty, love, and grace of our Lord Jesus Christ are revealed and offered to us as a gift of salvation through faith in His atoning sacrifice. Through them God reveals Himself to us, conveying an authentic expression of His character, a true conception of the nature of reality, a reliable record of His acts, a revelation of His purpose, and an expression of His loving will for us. The Scriptures constitute our supreme rule of faith and practice and the standard by which all teaching and experience is to be tested. Their divine origin invests them with an authority and a message that is relevant to and transcends all cultures and can satisfy our deepest needs.

Given the unique nature and importance of the Scriptures and the manifold benefits their systematic study brings to the Church, we the delegates of the General Conference in Session appeal to all Seventh-day Adventist believers around the world to make intentional provision in their daily routine for regular, prayerful reading of the Scriptures. Moreover, because biblical truths are for the benefit of all, especially those who will come to Christ, we urge every believer to actively seek ways to share the message of the Scriptures with others in order to prepare the world for the soon coming of our Lord.

Lets read through that again and think about what it says……

General Conference Resolution on Scripture: As delegates to the 2005 General Conference Session in St Louis, Missouri, we reaffirm the centrality of the Scriptures (This resolution does not explain what ‘the Scriptures’ are. Observing the current practice of Seventh Day Adventists one would conclude that they believe all versions to be ‘scripture’.) in the message and life of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. In them the (some of the. . .) beauty, love, and grace of our Lord Jesus Christ are revealed (Can we have the whole message when new versions omit 17 complete verses in the New Testament, and delete, substitute, and add hundreds of phrases and words?) and offered to us as a gift of salvation through faith in His atoning sacrifice. Through them God reveals Himself to us, conveying an authentic (Can new versions be ‘authentic’ when their roots are in spurious manuscripts derived from Rome?} expression of His character, a true conception of the nature of reality, a reliable (Can new versions be reliable for when compiled and edited by men that do not believe nor love God’s Pure Word, used and loved by the faithful since 1611) record of His acts, a revelation of His purpose, and an expression of His loving will for us. The Scriptures (Plurality of versions, all accepted) constitute our supreme (These ‘scriptures’ [plural] are now absolute, unequaled, unmatched, unparalleled, unsurpassable, over the Bible [singular]) rule of faith and practice and the standard by which all teaching and experience is to be tested. (How can something be tested when wordings of ‘the Scriptures’ are in confusion) Their divine origin (Originating from false Westcott & Hort Greek Texts does not givethese Scriptures’ (plural) divine origin) invests them with an authority and a message (A false contradictory message) that is relevant to and transcends all cultures and can satisfy our deepest needs. (Really?)

Given the unique nature and importance of the Scriptures (So now scriptures [plural] rule over The Bible [singular]?) and the manifold benefits their systematic study brings to the Church, (not individuals[?]) we the delegates of the General Conference in Session appeal to all Seventh-day Adventist believers around the world to make intentional provision in their daily routine for regular, prayerful reading of the Scriptures. (Please tell, which Scriptures are accurate and trustworthy!) Moreover, because biblical truths (How can ‘Scriptures’ and ‘Biblical truth’ be the same?) are for the benefit of all, especially those who will come to Christ, we urge every believer to actively seek ways to share the message of the Scriptures with others in order to prepare the world for the soon coming of our Lord. (Is this term ‘Lord’ borrowed from the New Age beliefs, a watered down allusion to the coming of the false Christ?) (Why no mention of Jesus Christ the Coming King of Glory riding forth on glorious celestial clouds to raise the dead and give immortality to the redeemed of all ages?)
